Fashion Trend: Fedora Festive

Fashion Trend, Work With Me

Fashion Trend: Yo bbz, I wanted get into the Holiday mood as I always do, right after Thanksgiving. Holiday style is goes right along with decorations. For the cold weather hats are a must. Hats are always a fashion trend I’m jazzed about for the Holiday season.  It is no secret I LOVE hats all year long!  I love my head gear! Fedoras have to be my favorite because they are so versatile as a style. At first, people think of the classic early to mid 20th century male movie & TV stars with Fedora’s but really Fedoras start much earlier.

WOMEN FIRST!

Fedora hats were first seen as a feminine hat with masculine undertones in 1883, inspired by the French playwright Victorien Sardou’s drama “Fédora.”  Sarah Bernhardt, a French actress, played Princess Fédora Romanoff, who wore a fashionable, center-creased, soft-brimmed hat. Sarah was known for wearing men’s clothing and taking on roles that surprised audiences. She was RAD AF!  The style of Bernhardt’s hat was named “fedora” after the title of the play in the play’s first review. This review popularized the term “Fedora Hat” in womenswear and, later, menswear. Fedora hats quickly became a popular fashion statement and symbol for women’s rights activists, representing liberation and assertiveness.  Feminists were driving fashion even back then. FAWK YAAASSSS!  The Fedora trend quickly spread to all women and men who were on the cutting edge.

Versatile and Chic

Everyone seems to be feeling the same way, whether it’s on the streets, in fashion blogs, or celebrities’ social media. Hats always add an extra element to any outfit, but the fedora takes it to the next level. They not only serve a practical purpose on bad hair days, but  also keep you warm AND transform your outfit. Throw on a fedora whenever you want to look chic without looking like you tried too hard.

Tips and Hacks

A few tips on how to wear it: If the brim of the hat is smaller, tilt the hat toward the back of your head leaving the front of the brim sitting above your your forehead & hair line. If it’s wide brim fedora sit the hat directly on top of your head and maybe shift it to the left or right. So, to wear a fedora and really rock it, I stick to basics and easy micx and match pieces.  Wear Fedoras with leather jackets, ripped jeans, boots, long cardigans, tench coats, or a lingerie and flannel shirt.
