The True Story of Medusa
We revisited the realm of ancient myths with the story of Medusa, a tale that echoes resilience and empowerment. Poseidon violated Medusa, a stunning priestess, and she endured the horrors of victimization from everyone as a result of their curse. Yet, she emerged not as a monster but as a symbol of strength.
The Female “Gaze”
Medusa’s transformation into a Gorgon, a woman with serpentine hair and a gaze that turned men to stone, was her shield against further exploitation. In this mythical narrative, we reclaim Medusa as a symbol of feminist strength. Her tale challenges the age-old narrative of blaming victims and empowers those who’ve faced assault. Was she hideous? Or was she so incredibly beautiful and strong, she was stunning?
If Medusa was here today…
Redefining surviving and paving the way
In the face of adversity, Medusa found her own power and embraced her identity. Today, she stands as a mythical feminist hero, a symbol of resilience, and a reminder that our narratives are not defined by the wrongs inflicted upon us. We honor her story and continue the fight for a world where survivors are heard, believed, and empowered. Together, we can do this.
